  1. Is there anything else I could do?
  2. But hey, I noticed it now reads <empty> on the different patches instead of <no banksticks>. I guess it means now it can notice the banksticks, but still is not able to put the patches into it.
  3. I uploaded the MIDIBOX FM app, then uploaded the SID app, but still no patches on my banksticks. I went and bought a new banksticks, uploaded the SID app and after it uploaded it just kept stuck starting up. Same thing has happened since I uploaded the patches for the first time. It seems almost impossible to startup most of the time. I usually wait a few minutes, connect to power again and it starts up. So I did that and it initiated, but yet no patches. I re-uploaded the SID app and then it just got stuck rebooting again(Launching CS). I can't really figure out what's going on here.
  4. help! anyone? anyone that can help?
  5. I only have one banksticks connected, so there's only one possible address. I've tried connecting it to other than A=0, but same thing happens, and most of the time it just keeps "Launching CS" during startup. ¿Could it be something else? I have the banksticks connected like this: Pin 1,2,3,4 and 7 to Vs on J4 port on CORE. Pin 5 to SD on J4 port on CORE. Pin 6 to SC on J4 port on CORE. Pin 8 to Vs on J4 port on CORE. Here's a pic of the project: http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o290/8bitvic/c64mar28.jpg Thanks for your help!
  6. Something's wrong with my banksticks. I had a 24LC512 and uploaded the SID app (6581.hex). I had all the patches for a while and everything was fine, until I tried connecting a new chip for the ensembles, then the patches erased from the 24LC512. I reuploaded the SID App from MIOS studio but I still can't access any sound except LEAD PATCH and A003 TECHNO 5th. I have my banksticks(24LC512) connected as A=0. I also tried with another chip(24LLC256) and same thing happens. In both of the cases after the 064 empty patch it reads "no bankstick". How do I get the patches on the banksticks again?
  7. It powers on! The 7805 regulator had a broken leg. I just changed it, connected it to the old 15 V PSU and it worked. Now i'm having the same problem I had before it stopped turning on. Something's wrong with my banksticks. I reuploaded the SID App( 6581.hex) from MIOS studio but I can't access any sound except LEAD PATCH and A003 TECHNO 5th. I have my banksticks(24LC512) connected as A=0. I also tried with another chip(24LLC256) and same thing happens. In both of the cases after the 064 empty patch it reads "no bankstick". I used to have all the sounds here but when i tried connecting a new bankstick for the ensemble, something happened and it erased the patches. I don't know what's wrong here.
  8. It's been such a long time since I started this thread, and I really didn't have the time or patience to check the voltages, but I did it finally. There's nothing. No voltage on any of the chips. When I test the SID I get something like 0.02(pins 14 and 25) and when I test pins 14 and 28 I get 11.8 V. I don't know if that's relevant. I tested it with the same power supply, which I don't really know if it's regulated, but I'm guessing it is not. Please help!
  9. Hi everyone. My SID was working just fine with a 15 VDC 800 mA power supply, until it just stopped working. Well actually I always had a problem: it would get stuck booting for a while, but most of the time it would boot and I could use it. The problem started when I connected a new banksticks, then most of the patches got erased and then it would just stop working. I don't know if that was just a coincidence. When I checked the voltage on the power supply it would read 20 V more or less. It was flucuating a lot. I don't know if the chip burned out or what. Should I get a new power supply and test the unit? Could it be another problem? I'll appreciate some help! Thanks
  10. WOHOO! :D Everything is working now! I hadn't uploaded the bank actually, hehe, and I was connecting the DIN to the other row, not the one closest to the edge. And that was it! Flemming you're the man! I appreciate a lot your guidance in these last steps. Now it's time to build a decent control surface for it, but for now we can do the victory dance :frantics: yeah!
  11. Sound finally! It sounds amazing! Thanks a lot for your patience Flemming. The problem was the MD from CORE was going to a nameless pin not to the SC pin, quite stupid. So I played a few notes but couldn't change the patch because there's probably something wrong with my DIN. I only connected one button and one encoder just to test it, but I can't seem to make it work. I connected it like this: CORE (J9) SID (J1) Vs Vs Vd Vd SI S0 SC SC RC RC The button is in J3, connected to the VS pin on J3 and to D5 which is supposed to be LEFT button. The encoder is in J6, C pin to Vs, A pin to D0 and B pin to D1. It seems a pretty easy thing I don't know what's going on. Every other part seems fine to me, the kit (which is from Smash TV) was quite easy to assemble. I already have the banksticks formatted and recognized so the patches are there... please help!
  12. Hey thanks a lot for the reply Flemming, but I think I still don't understand how to do this test. When I press the C key, it means to check pin 15(D0) so I put the red probe there ? and what about the black one? Also where are the RC and the SC pins on the chip? I tried pin 28(red probe) to pin 14 and it reads 11.83 V. Also pin 28 to 15 and it's also 11.83 V. Thanks!
  13. Hi! So I got my CORE running and tested my SID and all the voltages were about ok, so I mounted the 6581 chip, then connected a MIDI keyboard for testing but I got no sound. Then I uploaded the testone app from the MIOS download page and started hearing this 1 kHz sound. Then I realized I didn't upload the SID V2 app so I did. SID application got installed and on my LCD I saw the first patch name which is called lead patch but I was still listening this 1 kHZ noise (with some hum). I tried using the MIOS Studio keyboard but nothing happened. I checked all the interconnections between the CORE and SID and they seem ok to me. The tip of the audio plug is going to the + audio output of the SID and the shield to ground of the power supply, so that seems ok. I tried using the interconnection test I downloaded from the MIOS downloads but just didn't understand anything at all there. Someone please help!
  14. Hi! So I got my power supply, 15 VDC 800mA. I just sent 2 + voltages, one to the J1 port of the CORE, and one to the J1 port on the SID. I guessed the voltage regulators on the boards(from smashtv) would do the trick. I connected ground to the Vss of the CORE and to the J1 port of the CORE. So I got my CORE connected, checked the voltages and they read 4.97, so I guess that's fine. I got the ready message so I think everything's fine with the CORE. I connected the SID to the core and checked the voltages as I saw in one of the forums that somebody did it : IC1 25 -> 14 IC2 8 -> 16 IC3 8 -> 26 So I checked without really knowing where to place the black and the red cables of my probe, so I put the red cable in pin 25 and black(COM) in pin 14. IC1 was getting 4.95 V. I checked IC2, with COM on pin 8 and red on pin 16, it reads 4.95 V. Then I don't know if this guy messed up or what, but the IC3 just has 16 pins. So I supposed he meant to check pin 8 and 16, so I did, black on pin 8 and red pin 16, and got 4.95 V. So I just wanted to make sure I was getting everyhing right before I put the SID chip, because I don't wanna ruin the chip. I thought I was gonna get 12 V on the SID, that's why I'm wondering if everything's fine. I'll appreciate some guidance to get to place the SID chip and make the first noise finally!
