  1. Thanks a lot m00dawg. I definately want to use encoders to contol all of the software parameters. Anybody else? Any more help would be appreciated.
  2. That sounds like a yamaha Motif XS8. I believe you can record audio tracks alongside midi, so there's your karaoke. Not sure about the CD burner, but then again, the Korg Triton Studio can record audio alongside midi and burn a CD of it, but it uses mostly sampled sounds. Also, you are obviously not looking for a workstation type keyboard with all of the bread and butter sounds included in addition to synth type sounds. As good as AFM sythesis can be, a nice grand piano or an acoustic drum kit would sound like crap compared to a good sampled sound.
  3. Hey all. I'm new to posting on the forums but I've been reading every piece of info I could find on the ucapps site for months. Before I ask my question I just want to say thanks for all the info that has been posted on this forum. For my first build I would like to build a standard LC with all the buttons and functions of the Mackie Control, but with 16 or so dedicated encoders for controlling my SSL G Channel EQ and compressor plugs, plus some more encoders for controlling VI's with standard synth parameters such as cutoff, resonance, ADSR, and such. Now, from my understanding, I would have to basically build a LC and a separate MB64. My questions are 1. How would this work as far as power? Would I need two separate power supplies, and if so, can two separate PS units share the same metal enclosure in relation to grounds? 2. What are the differences between an MB64 and MB64E? 3. How hard would it be to build a volume control for my monitors and maybe a selector to switch between two sets of monitors? I've read a bit about stepped attenuators and stuff but if anyone knows any good sites for info on audio electronics I would appreciate it. I actually thought about buying a central station or Big Knob and opening it up and just mounting the electronics inside the unit I want to build. I'm basically trying to build a HUI but with added assignable knobs and better signal quality in the control room section. If this build goes well, I plan to build at least two more LC units to give me 24 faders. I mainly use Logic 8 but also use PT to mix on occasion. I would like my solution to be equally compatible with both. Thanks
