Cubase, FL Studio, Virtual DJ, Ableton, ...

  4. I build PIC based core know. And i don't find in shop HC49U-S crystal, but TK strong recommend to use only "parallel cut" crystal with PIC18F and manager in the shop can't answer is there HC49S (not U-S) is parallel cut or not ? Can i use that crystal ? I have downloaded datasheet and there is nothing about serial/parallel cut. Please help !

  7. This is going hella of topic... Sending the chip to russia would be ~1,50eur.

Good, but i'm still think it's strange to use any exclusive chips in DIY.

OK, for Jegge and other topic readers i like to share this link: http://swit4.ru/files/UART2MIDI.rar (i think that device have potential to do much than one midi-out+midi-in+usb but up to 3midi-ins/outs at least). It's based on the atmega8 and ft232rl for usb connecting. Now this is usb2midi converter only it's not an alternative for gm5 or another midibox usb modules. It also require for com2midi windows driver (included), it's not good idea for future compatibility.

  8. As far as I understood reading their forums, the transfer speed they got with their tests was around 7000 bytes/second.

I think nor bytes but bits. And this is 8 times slower.

Pft. This is just wrong :)

The gm5 is an awesome midi interface. TK sells them for 4,50eur iirc, that is cheap.

As i can understand. That chip is ordered in 100-1000 pcs by TK from the factory and he wait for 100-1000 peoples who want to buy one gm5. Ok maybe i'm wrong and i may buy TODAY, but how much money to send that 5euro's gm5 to Russia ?

  9. Powered by Atmega48

Atmega chips have not hardware usb support - it mean it provide usb support in the firmware level, i know popular realisation is V-USB, but it's unfortunately doesn't support speeds higher than 6400 bps = but midi speed is 31250 bps. So this is not full speed usb2midi converter. any atmega don't provide really good usb2midi device.

I think about chips like CP2102 and FT232 they are about $5 an they are able to support uart2usb full speed, but i have not yet tested them in my hands :)

GM5 is bad variant because of: Is there anybody tell me where i can buy it cheap and fast in my places???

  10. Return to the MIDI DJ CJ CONTROLLER!

Will a newer controller be next? (For example instead of a potentiometer rotary ecoder.)

Maybe. I try to sell my device in Russia now. If i'll have success with that i will develop newer version of device. Yes, i want to try 1-2 encoders - it is interesting for me like radio-hobby

I really can't see why you would want to re-invent the wheel recreating it on something like the AVR which doesn't really offer much in functionality or performance over the PIC device.

If you are musician and you need to receive completed device it's best idea to copy or buy midiboxes or something like MIDI DJ CJ CONTROLLER :D

But if you want to have some fun time with interesting radio-hobby, maybe better to make modifications or 100% self made devices. But i don't see problems to use experience of peoples who already have skills and completed projects, like TK.

  11. Thank you for the answer!

Like this already understandable for me.

(I learned a Russian language little...)

I would like to build the controller.

But sliding potentiometer I would like it...

    Very good the software!

There will be a newer hardware version?

    Newer plans?

Sliding potentiometers are nice. Now i'm try to build something like Midibox 808 (drum midi seqeuncer). I think first of all i try to build this site variant because of firmware. So now i have din/dout modules = it's really nice hardware and in any way i will use them. Now the question is: to use midibox core or self made core module. It's really hard or expensive to find PIC18f4620 in Russia and also i would like to work with Atmel controllers.

  12. You might be better off trying here: http://eight-oh-eight.org/phpbb2/

Especially the "Assembly Instructions" subforum might be of interest.

I haven't find answer in "Assembly Instructions" because of there instruction fo one-PCB assembly.

Also i can't register there beacuse of maybe my email domain ".ru", forum write me:

Sorry, but this e-mail address has been banned.

So please anybody who have account there please post there topic with my first-post question and give me link to read answers.

    Thank you.

    I have found this:

    www.eight-oh-eight.org/v3_Bottom_Copper.gif

The legend for the above file:

yellow lines is dins, orange douts but picture is not full finished :(

  13. Hi

I'm try to build MB808 in this simple variant:

    1 x MBHP_CORE, stuffed with PIC18F4620

    2 x MBHP_DINX4 (only 6 74HC165 shift registers used)

    2 x MBHP_DOUTX4 (7 74HC595 shift registers used)

1 rotary encoder (for tempo, could also be used for additonal purposes in future)

    33 buttons

35 LEDs (33 could be integrated into buttons, 2 additional LEDs to display selected layer and record mode)

And i don't find how to connect buttons, encoder and LEDs to DINX, DOUTX modules. What of DINX channel belong to shift, alt, A,B,C,D buttons etc, and where is encoder must be connected ?

Also firmware for this variant is setup_808_default.hex or setup_808_tk.hex or ?

  14. HI!

    Very good project!

    I would have a question:

    LED1-LED6 (6 piece)

    S1-S5 (5 piece)

Which LED to belong to which switch?

    Thank you!

    One of the LEDs is 3-pin (2 color LED). One part of it is knobs-only midi-activity LED (LED4), second color is for switch (LED3 = S1). Other is: S2 - LED5, S3 - LED6, S4 - LED1, S5 - LED2

Today i have released english-interface software and new firmware: http://avargesnano.narod.ru/MIDI-DJ-CJ-CONTROLLER-2.0-USB-14.02.10.zip (page http://avargesnano.narod.ru/MIDI-DJ-CJ-CONTROLLER-2.0.html )

    midi-dj-cj-controller-2.0-usb-software.jpg

*Software has crash on the start if no MIDI input devices is in the system (so i start it after connecting my device). i will fix it in new version.

  15. I make midibox plus 8 on the PIC16F877. Firmware midibox_plus_v1910_8pots_bb. No display, no need for it in the future. I would like to know, midimerger default on or off? Also, as I understood, i can configure the buttons and pots in a virtual midi box, and then send this config into contoroller.

Question 1. If midimerger turned off by default - how to turn it on without a display? (Type two times "left", once "menu" or something)

Question 2. If configuration is sent into controller - how to make sure that it is saved there and not have to send again at the next power on?

    Thanks

  16. Hi all !

I want to present my controller based on atmega16, it is in 2 variants:

    1. MIDI DJ CJ CONTROLLER EASY (2 faders, have midi-out, i connect it via game port, power from game port too)

    2. MIDI DJ CJ CONTROLLER 2.0 USB (8 faders, 5 knobs with led backlight, have midi and USB out and support USB-programming via bootloader)

First is complete project and it's very easy to be copied, project here: http://avargesnano.narod.ru/MIDI-DJ-CJ-Controller-EASY.zip

Second variant is almost complete ...huh, so many time need to make good face design

    midi-dj-cj-controller-2.0-usb-prototype.jpg

Description will be here in 1-2 week: http://avargesnano.narod.ru/MIDI-DJ-CJ-CONTROLLER-2.0.html

First youtube video of device testing:

I had spent about 1 month of free time and it's very interest to make that kind of device day by day. Idea about handmade variants is from that site, from midiboxes.
