  1. Well, at long last I have it working. I had to delete the data in c:\users\username\appdata\ctrlr so I could start ctrlr, pick midi devices, open panel, pick midi devices in panel and away I went. Still, I don't know how to get my midi keyboard to send note messages as well as my interface to the sammichSID. I tried using a midiloopback device so I could merge midi outputs in EnergyXT but it didn't seem to work with the loopback device, even though the output was going to the same output it went to before. Oh well. I hope the new version of Ctrlr allows you to send a midi input to the VST so you can send some notes.

Ok, so I downloaded the latest version of Ctrlr to see if it would help and, yes, I was able to use it! However, it looks like the panel doesn't work with the latest version. So, I tried to go back to the earlier one and broken again.

I believe that I followed the wrong order when I initially set it up, as my midi interface does not load as default. I think if I could just "set it up right" one time, 945 would work. However, I've uninstalled it, deleted the directory and vst's and reinstalled it, and still... the old configuration auto loads. Does anyone know where to delete the old config so I can "start fresh"?

    thanks

Hello, I'm having some trouble getting it to work. I have a Lexicon Lambda interface and am using EnergyXT and also Renoise as hosts. I can select the Lexicon as the midi input and output device, but when I hit receive, I don't get the current patch. Likewise, I make changes and hit send and nothing happens. I'm using the versions of Ctrlr and the panel as shown in the first post. Also, same story with standalone. Any ideas? Thanks.

  5. Is it possible to play the notes in the editor somehow with a keyboard or something else while you are programming sounds (other than the "test" tone)? I am running Linux and was thinking if I somehow wrapped the program with "a2j" and could map my midi input to the midibox at the same time as the java program... but I was thinking this would mess up the transfer of data... any ideas? thanks.

  6. I have been experiencing a green bar on my LCD (I am moving this out of another topic for relevancy). It started after months of normal use. I have checked and rechecked the solder joints and pins leading to the LCD on my sammichSID but to no avail.

My sammichSID otherwise works fine, the startup LED's flash, I have sound when I play through it, but... green bar of death.

I've tried adjusting the contrast knobs and they make the bar brighter and softer.

    Is this the best replacement?

    thank you

  7. Wow, this is awesome. Thanks TK. I can't hardly wait to implement it!

However, my sammichSID just went crazy. The screen is one green bar. I'm trying to track down the problem right now. Everything boots up okay, but then... the bar. It was working fine when I was on vacation, but when I flew home and turned it on... green bar. Any ideas?

If I get it working and make the patch, I will share it... though I don't know if it will be of use to anyone.

  8. Hello,

I am wondering if it is able to control the type arpeggio in a patch from a midi controller. I.E. If I push a button or hold a controller up then the notes ascend, if I go down, it descends, right does back and forth and left does random... or the like.

Is something like this possible over midi? I can only find arp speed and gatewidth...

    thank you

  9. From what I can tell, this is a windows only dll? Right? I don't think it's meant for Linux. I would really like to get Goat Tracker working in Linux. I wonder if there's a direction we could take this...? I think there's a thread about midibox sid support in Linux VICE and another sid player.

I appreciate this is a bit of a niche question, but has anyone managed to get the Hardsid.dll working in Linux? I am trying to use the windows version of GT (which loads fine) but it wont trigger the hardsid.dll to allow me to select the output device.

oops! DLL in the wrong folder...

Ok, I can select my Midibox SID, using the aSID tray icon but the applications I have tried GoatTracker and Acid64 both hang on startup. This is slightly off topic I appreciate but have any 'nix users managed to get this working?

    I am using

    Ubuntu 9.04

    Wine 1.1.42

and I have tried GT 2.7 and Acid 64 3.03

    Any help much appreciated.

  10. Does this mean there won't be an upgrade board for sammichSIDs?

    Wait for MBSID V3

no it won't be based on MBHP_CORE_STM32, but on a new board with a more suitable microcontroller.

yes, it will provide an integrated ethernet controller

yes, ethernet, USB, CAN and MIDI can be used in parallel.

    yes it will provide OSC

Therefore it doesn't make much sense to document the halffinished stuff based on obsolete hardware - especially not to people w/o programming knowledge.

However, there are many PC/Mac based possibilities to transfer OSC to MIDI - unfortunately you haven't specified, which HW/SW you already own.

Even with MBHP_CORE_STM32 and MBHP_ETH it's possible, but as mentioned above: if you don't own this HW yet, it doesn't make much sense anymore to invest into it.

More infos about this topic soon.

    Best Regards, Thorsten.

  11. Hi, I've got this working great with sidplayw, but whenever I load goattracker it just slows down and goes nuts. Any ideas?

FYI... using Goattracker 2.71 with SBLIVE EMU (joystick/midi output) with sammichSID on Windowsxp (normally like Linux for this stuff)...

  12. For the external input, what cautionary steps should I take to avoid hurting the SID's? Can I plug a raw guitar into it or does it need to be a 'balanced' input? Can I plug another synth in? A microphone?

    thanks!

  13. Awesome. That worked pretty well. The only thing is it fades 'into' the crunchy bit instead of starting with it like the game does. I thought maybe if I made the attack very low on the envelope but the release long but I couldn't quite get it.

Use a pulse waveform and slowly modulate the Pulsewidth with an envelope.

It's important that only a single oscillator is played, otherwise the sound will be "too fat" so that you won't notice the effect anymore.

    Best Regards, Thorsten.

  14. So I've been trying to create some patches. One sound I would love to make is the arp'ed / fading sound from Armalyte. I know how to use the arpeggiator but I'm wondering how to do the "crunchy fade" bit (Sorry for lack of better descriptors). I'm guessing the LFO is involved in some way... any ideas?
