  1. Thanks both - so my future box, just being a midibox64E-based controller for ableton, probably wouldn't need nav buttons for the LCD?
  2. Morning/Afternoon/Evening all! I wondered what the navigation buttons were for, that I've seen on quite a few projects here? I'm messing about with the design of my box at the moment, and wanted to know if they're essential/necessary? What can they do?
  3. Thank you both, I thought I would Buddha - I'll have another read through and try and put a list together :)
  4. Hi - sorry for the late reply! Didn't see any emails saying I had new messages... dummy :) Thanks Phil, I'll have a look at that one - Buddha, yes there is a cue button in Ableton and I think I'll end up just mapping a button to that on the controller when it finally takes shape. I'll be using an AudioKontrol 1 which has a ton of ins and outs, so I'll probably just have the headphones plugged into that and have done with it. thanks again! James
  5. Hi all - so, I'm just conceptualising my MIDIbox and am getting a bit excited. I came across a button with red and green built in LEDs, and thought they would be good for telling me when a clip is loaded (yellow), playing (green) and red (recording) in Ableton. But - does this mean that each button will take up two LEDs in the core? This could be problematic, seeing as so far I've got 81 of these buttons in my design... any ideas how to get around this one please? Thanks! James
  6. Hi all, a quick (ha) question - is it possible to have sound routed through a midibox setup somehow? What I'm trying to achieve is an ableton controller with clip launch buttons amongst other things (I'm trying to design an all in one device that doesn't require a mixer) and what would be great would be a way to preview what's being played on each track... I'm guessing some sort of soundcard needs to be added in? Forgive my noobness, I'm just sort of thinking out loud at the moment...
  7. Hi everyone - first of all thanks to TK and everyone for all the inspirational info on these sites and forums. Second of all, I've got a bit lost in all the documentation and wondered if someone could help me out a bit with what modules I'd need to buy. I've had my mind blown by noofny's Ableton controller and would love to achieve something similar. What I'd like to make is: On the left side of the controller: A 9-wide by 9-high clip launch grid with RGB LED feedback from Ableton (8 clips per track, clip stop at the bottom and scene launch at the side) 6 pots and one fader for each of the 8 tracks plus one set for master volumes And on the right side: A crossfader Some navigation buttons to move the clip grid up and down And maybe some more pots for FX if there's any free space left on the AINs. I think I'm going to pop my MIDIBox cherry by making a 64 pot box to go with an Akai APC20 to start with, but the above is my eventual goal.... exciting just thinking about it! Thanks in advance James
  8. Seriously, this pisses on any other controller I've ever encountered. Kudos + 256
  9. That is the most amazingly cool thing I've ever seen. I aspire to be 1% as amazing as this when my devious plan comes to fruition
