has just built a MIDIpal. First ever SMT soldering and I didn't make too much of a mess of it....

Good practice is desoldering/soldering chips from old soundcards for example, or any other broken hardware.

Schrabikus - Hadn't thought about that. I have a box of old PCI cards.
Gilesjuk - I'm on the list for the next (last?) batch of sammichFMs, so OPL will happen at some point.
