stryd_one
Add all other board components, and shipping, convert from US pesos dollars to $AU. Multiply by number of drum channels.Yeh well you don't need to use a separate PSU for each unit like that, so you can save a bundle by making your own PSU to power all 8... the other components will only be a few bucks... Shipping will be about the same for 8 as it would for 1... I know what you mean though. Trust me thought this will sound about 1000 times better than the b*hringer. FYI, behringer will have new gear announced in the next two weeks, so you might like to hold off, if you're considering that route.
DrBunsen
Then I might as well *ahem* adapt their layout to protoboard, skip the balancing transformers and order the Thats from Smallbear Profusion."Joe Cheep" That's the "What?" comp. We linked that above.Meanwhile, I had another look at Smallbear's comp ICs. The Q&D Comp 2 from AMZ looks like a really simple build, based on the Analogue Devices SSM2166 - which is slightly cheaper than the That4031 and has an integrated noise gate

TheAncientOne
And you pointed out that Joe Cheep is the What comp.Sorry for posting that - I'd only ever had it bookmarked as 'Joe Cheep', from the original group thread.A nice inexpensive project from the parts point of view, but hell on time - I did one on perfboard. If postage wasn't so expensive I'd send it over, for a template. This was before I'd heard of Lochmaster!Best wishes
stryd_one
This was before I'd heard of Lochmaster!Well I had to google it, looks nice! I posted a while back about a freeby which seems similar (perhaps not as nice as Lochmaster but ~40 euro cheaper heh) DIY Layout Creator
