Dimitree Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Hi everybody! I'm from Italy so sorry for my bad english.. ;)I hope this is the right section to post.I did some search on this forum but I can't find an aswer for my question.I don't have any experiences with MIDI.I'd like to build a switching system for my guitar setup. I use almost analog pedals, so I'd like to rackmount these pedals and to control them activating/disactivating, remotely.Basically I want to build something like these:the looper: http://www.voodoolab.com/gcx.htmthe floorboard: http://www.voodoolab.com/gcontrolpro.htmA rackmounted looper, with loops where I connect all the pedals and other units, and a floorboard that control this looper remotely and let me choose which loop is active and which is not active.. Then this floorboard should have 2 using mode: the first is the one I said (every footswitch active-disactive its corresponding loop, with a led for every loop), the second let me choose presets instead of loops (every footswitch recall a preset, every preset is a combination of activated/disactivated loops, and recall also presets from MIDI units, such as Korg A3 or Whammy, for example, with buttons for bank up, bank down, etc). I think the second mode is a sort of program change..Maybe the infos on voodoolab site that I linked could explain better than me..How can do that? I don't have problem with soldering, etching PCB, etc.. So the hardware should not be a problem.. What modules should I build? How many presets and loops would I got (voodolab has 8 loops)?thanks so much!Dimitri
stryd_one Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Welcome aboard!I found too many search hits to list. Try this: open the search link in my signature, search for 'guitar' (without the quotes) and sort results by most recent topics. Then try the same thing with 'switch' and also 'floor' and 'pedal'. You'll find LOTs of good stuff :)HTH!
Dimitree Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 Thanks HTH!I did that befor posting..but maybe because of my bad english I did not manage to find a simple answer.. I'll try it again!
stryd_one Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 If you don't have any luck, let us know :)(oh... HTH = Hope That Helps :D )

If we don't understand, we'll just ask :)Also, don't forget Forum Italiano, where you can post in your native language and get replies that way also - no confusing Australians like me ;)

Dimitree Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help! This seems to be the best forum I've ever discovered!grazie Simone! se dovessi incontrare difficoltà non esiterò a chiederti aiuto ;) grazie ancoraA little stupid question before I start studing all these infos.. Does the signal of my guitar pass through the MIDI circuits, or the MIDI circuits do not affect at all the sound of my signal?
cimo Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Does the signal of my guitar pass through the MIDI circuits, or the MIDI circuits do not affect at all the sound of my signal?la seconda ch' hai detto ;)yep EDIT: audio and MIDI data can t and won t ever be mixed up, they re just 2 diffrent beasts, worries about a matrix switcher could come from the solid state/not solid state relays "clicks".
Dimitree Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 Do you think that the GCX switcher I linked before use DPDT relays or a Matrix switcher? I would choose DPDT relays if with the matrix switcher could create problems..what are the differences between the 2 solutions?
cimo Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Good readinghttp://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11262.msg95260.html#msg95260
Quali sono i vantaggi/svantaggi di questi due metodi? grazie ancorasorry for speaking italian this time for this post :-[
cimo Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 let s move italian talking (with hands waving and all) to italian forum..
flo Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 @Dimitree: I'm in the process of making a 7 DPDT relais FX looper with the midi-box a bit like: the looper http://www.voodoolab.com/gcx.htmCheck: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11705.0.htmlJust got he midibox kits and the relais etc. Still in the process of creating clear requirements / achtitecture / software design. My current goal is to create a very simple but perfectly usable 7 FX true bypass relais switcher, without a need for a user interface. Only 7 indication LEDs will probably be present indicating which looper is enabled/disabled.

Dimitree Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 thanks flo..I saw all your posts/topic.. But as a beginner I find it hard to understand some of these things.. So I'd like to start from begin.. First of all I'd like to know the differences between DPDT relais and Matrix switcher..if these are 2 ways to do the same thing, etc..
cimo Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 .. i forgot to link youhttp://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11849.0.html
