Soclt Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Hello,I'm trying to make rotary encoder for scratch wheel using HDD motor. I`ve taken Maxtor Diamondmax 60GB IDE HDD, but the motor inside was mounted without any screws, just hardly pushed into the metal. Maybe anyone could suggest where I can find normally mounted steppers?
cimo Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 What about cutting the chassis and making 2 holes for screws?
Soclt Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 Why I have to use workaround if I have a lot of hard drives? :) I found exact steppers I need in Fujitsu 20GB HDD manufactured in 2001-04. Model: MPG3204AT. I think all models MPG310xxx - MPG340xxx from 10GB to 40GB have the same motor :)

Soclt Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 Firstly asked, then found it myself next day :) Anyway, the topic can be kept for future searches.
