Hi There,

I know midibox since two years and I think it's the time to build my own Live controller. I think that my project is pretty simple, I just need 8 sliders, 24 knobs and 8 buttons that will activate/deactivate the 8 channels of Live (activated = led ON / deactivated = led OFF). My questions : is this push-button compatible with midibox and with my purpose?

If not..should you suggest me some other?

Thanks,

Scube

Gday scube,

That's a massive actuator... Ignoring that (not sure if you intended to buy a 3.2cm diameter button) the page doesn't actually give any information about the switch itself (the little box at the back with the electrical contacts on it)... Do you have a link to the switch used?

Edit: Also, be sure you get the correct part number, one that's meant for 5V LEDs and not a 24V incandescent bulb.

Nah we need the switch specs... at least eelectronically speaking, the actuator is (usually) irrelevant... we need to know for example, is it momentary-on, is it single-throw, etc etc..

As you can see I'm a newbie in electronics but I've done a research and understood that I need a Single Throw / latching action / Push-Push Switch (NO-momentary). I've found some interesting push-push buttons, I actually love this "anti vandals" design (yes I know that they are expensive) :

In particular, the third button of this list (MSM 22 LA) seems to be the right choice for my purposes but I like also some piezo ones. Do you think I can connect piezo buttons to midibox?

P.S. An useful link for newbie : http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/switch.htm

You want momentary action (pops back up wen you aren't pushing in with your finger)

The price is less of an issue than the fact they they often have inappropriate action (too hard to push) but if they work, they work.
