Syntax Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Hi all, Just getting frustated here as I'm trying to change PIC IDs. I managed to change one ID from ID 00 to ID 01 with the change id app with preconfigured hex file for ID 01. Next are the ID 02 and 03. Doing so with the respective preconfigured hex files, the upload went succesfull, but after the PIC reboots the ID is still 00. Strange thing is when doing the same exercise for ID 01 which succeeded earlier, it fails this time!. Am I missing something here?? Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Quote
TK. Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Could it be that you forgot to route the MIDI Out correctly, so that you always get the response of the first core? Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
Syntax Posted November 29, 2009 Author Report Posted November 29, 2009 Could it be that you forgot to route the MIDI Out correctly, so that you always get the response of the first core? Best Regards, Thorsten. I'm not sure if I understand. Just for the record I'm building a MB6582 unit and use MIOS studio for uploading. Procedure as follow: -PIC ID 00 in first 'slot' core 1 -Jumper select for first PIC -Upload preconfigured hex ID 01 into PIC (using smart download) -The midi in MIOS shows something like (by heart) 00 01 F7 after reboot. I understand the 00 is the device ID. When I put in the PIC with ID 01 the midi in shows 01 01 F7 so I'm sure this one has ID 01 How does the MIDI Out comes in?? Kind regards, Quote
TK. Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Indeed this is strange. It seems that you are doing everything correctly. The only explanation I have is, that you are not using the original .hex files which I released under http://www.ucapps.de/mios_download.html but something else. Did you build the files yourself, or did you rename the files? Please download the change_id package again to be 100% sure that you are using "known working" binaries. And I also recomment to pull the other PICs out of the sockets so that you are 100% sure that only the first core receives/sends SysEx messages. Has anybody else successfully used the change_id application in the last weeks? Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
Syntax Posted November 29, 2009 Author Report Posted November 29, 2009 Hi Thorsten, I'm using the files which I downloaded, no modifications or self built. Using the device_id_02.hex file. Below the sysex received on the Midi In, the lower red 00 should be 02 I guess. 00000000158224 ms | SysEx: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 00000000158379 ms | SysEx: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0F 1C F7 00000000158534 Syntax Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 Could it be, that you haven't installed MIOS yet? Could it really be so simple? I only burned the bootloader and start changing IDs. I'll try uploading MIOS first.... Kind regards, Frank Quote
Syntax Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 Ok succeeded in uploading to all PICs. Just forgot the MIOS upload first before changing ids! :D Thanks for your support. Quote
