Guest robm Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 Hello,My MIDI Box has been in occasional use for about 9 months and the pots are starting to show their age (sending lots of 'flickering' midi information). I used the P6M-LIN 10K Radioohm pots from Reichelt.de. Can anyone suggest something more reliable and robust? Thanks for any help, robm Quote
Steven_C Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 tips... (hopefully not too useless...)you might not beleive it, but to reduce flicker/jitter, use massive earth rails/wires (1-2mm diameter) put a few 100n caps around the place, especially across the 5v rails, close to the pots, get some small ferrite beads, run the CV wire (centre pin) from the pots through them (but this may be not practical, if you have more than 8-16 pots) Make sure you have a big power supply (1000-2000uf) power your unit from a filtered power board, and use a star earth, no earth loops, and you will be amazed at the difference... I was! Make sure your firmware is newer than v28 if you are using MB64 (PWM dimmer... bad news)BTW I mean the hollow tube ferrite beads you poke the wires thru.whoever is compiling (FAQMARKER (for you TK ;)) FAQ, please quote this!well that was totally not what you wanted an answer for, but I wrote it anyway!maybe alps pots? (the real answer? :-[) Quote
