padjoe.thornton
Hi I'm building a two sid one core, using a pic18f4685 bought from mike. I'm powering the core with 5vdc into junction 2 I'm using a midi to usb cable, out to in and in to out went over all my soldering, checked voltages where they should be and am using a testing dc power supply, that is showing no short circuits, I'm trying to upload the hex file trying to upload mios v1_9, I just took the pic from the package wearing an anti static wristband connected to ground. checked pins of midi out and in all soldered fine, going to go through more test with a multimeter but all obvious problems seem to be fine, Is there anything I'm not doing, and god forbid could the chip be faulty? device id is at 0, should I be trying another id? it just says no response from mios8 or mios32 core, thanks in advance
TK.
I read your observations, but there isn't enough input for a successful remote diagnosis. Could you please go through the troubleshooting guide and tell us, which tests are passing, which ones are failing? -> http://www.ucapps.de/howto_debug_midi.html Check also that your MIDI interface is not on the blacklist: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=midi_interface_blacklist Best Regards, Thorsten. TK.
Alright, it looks like this interface (MIDI cable at one side, USB cable at other side, case has similar shape and three LEDs) It's on the blacklist. If it isn't already too late: send it back and complain about the bugs - meanwhile I read from many users (not only in this forum) that SysEx transfers are not handled reliable by this cheapo interface. Best Regards, Thorsten.
padjoe.thornton
Hi Thorsten, Thank you very much You are dead right its cheapo, Have you ever been to dublin, thats a word we use a lot to describe things cheap (with the o at the end) :) I bought it online off ebay and it looked ok, looking at the blacklist its very like the one also for sale in maplin for 29.99 I'll pick up a decent one tomorrow in a proper music shop and let you know, I'll also get the extra parts I need for testing, is it ok to use a midi to usb interface cable or should I get a decent box? also do you have any recommendations of any tried and tested midi to usb, I'm on a budget but want to buy something that will work ok I'm using windows 7 Thank You Much Appreciated PT
