crossen Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Hello, I have just built my sammich, I am getting 9 volts to the correct point on the board when the jumpers are set up to the 6582, but when I move the header to the vertical position and insert the two headers at the top of the board I am getting 5v to the sid and anywhere that I should be getting 12v. I am using a regualted 12v power supply, but I suspect something has gone wrong during the build. Also I have installed all of the mios software ok, i am at the stage of plugging in a sid, but just not getting the correct voltage. Any ideas what I can check?
Imp Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Hi and welcome! I'd check, if the regulators' legs make contact with the heatsink first. You can also measure the resistance between the 5v and 12v lanes, e.g. at the outer pins of the backlightjumper (JBL). If it is too low, you connected them by accident.
Wilba Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 If you put shunts in JBP then the input power must be tip positive. So check that first. Basically shunts in JBP just bypass the bridge rectifier so all points that are "12V" are identical (electrically connected) to the input power tip.
