I have a few questions for all the "frontpanel designer" experts here  :)

1) I want to place the buttons on vectorboards. Is it correct when I set Frontpanel Designer's grid distance to 2,54mm?

2) I am using the Reichelt DIT/DTL type buttons which measure 12,4x17,4 in height. The smallest (1 mm) cutter of Schaeffer Apparatebau needs at least a corner radius of 0,5 mm. Am I safe when I add 2*0.5mm and thus make the dimension of the thru-holes 13,4x18,4?

3) Should I align the buttons on the grid by their center or by their side?

Heya!

1) You should make it 1,27. Reason: E.g. the LEDs will land right in the middle of two points on a vectorboard if you put them into the tow holes (just try it out on a vectorboard - there you will see what  I mean)

2) Yepp, thats OK. I even would make it 2x 0,75 or so, so you have enough free space that you dont have to use a hammer to get them in there ("Move you SOAB you dammit f***er you").

You also can just make the corners perfect with a "Feile" (I dont know the english word, cuse me).

3) What you prefer. I prefer the middle. (The center: 5 grids to both sides make 10 grids= 12,7 mm and 7 grids to both up and down 14 grids = 17, whatever)

Greets and have fun

Another option is to make the cutter go past the dimensions of the thru-hole. Here is an image to clarify what I mean:

Does anyone have any experience with this type of thru-hole?
