Guest nickca
Well, after several months, many late nights, and some frustration, sweat, blood and soldering iron burns, I'm the newest proud owner of an MIOS-based MB642.0. It works GREAT and I am already using it to make music and control my DAW software. I'm going to post pictures eventually, but I don't have any now. Here's some problems/notes I ran into while building it, hopefully they're helpful to someone:1. When using the AIN/DIN/DOUT test app, the box was sending a semi-constant stream of MIDI data, and the display was stuck on "Recieved a DIN event 0/0". Re-uploading MIOS and the test app fixed this for some reason. I still have no idea what caused it.2. Random AIN data - Everyone gets this I think. In my case, I was trying to use ribbon cables connected to SIL headers on both ends, sort of a jury-rigged wiring harness. This just wouldn't work, so I ended up cutting the connectors off the ribbon cable and soldering it directly to the SIL headers. That worked fine. So remember to check the cabling if you've already checked everything else.3. Exec button triggers all buttons at once - This one was really irritating. To make a long story short, the cause is no clock signal on the DIN, which in my case was caused by no connection between SC on J8 and J9 of the core. The reason why it was so irritating is because there either wasn't a trace there on the board, or it had been destroyed somehow, so it appeared that nothing was wrong on visual inspection.Pics coming soon, hopefully.
