Rotary encoders plus digital ins?

Just wondering if I'm understanding this correctly. On one core unit one can attach two DINX4 modules. Each of these can provide up to 64 digital ins correct? So one can have 128 buttons, or 64 rotary encoders, but not both? ( I assume the rotary's use 2 ins per encoder correct? ) And the rotary encoders can be used just fine without the led screens if I don't mind not knowing where they are right?

Thanks,

Iain

nearly..

one core - 4 dinx4

one dinx4 - 32 digi ins

total 128 ins , right

1 encoder 2 pins , right

and yes encoders or buttons at the same pins, but you can mix it like 16 encoders and 96 buttons

u can see the position of an encoder on the lcd so u dont need the led rings - if i get your question  right  ;D

greetings  ;)

So just to make sure I have this clear, one fully packed core is can take:

2 times AINX4, for 64 analog knobs

as wells as

4 times DINX4 for up to 128 buttons OR 64 encoders.

OR some combo, 2 buttons per encoder.

Correct?

And I don't *need* to have the LCD or leds if I'm doing all my monitoring on a computer screen right? I can build it and add those later if I feel I need em?

Thanks,

Yes right up to now.

But you definitely should use at least a LCD, so you can see what youre doing. Having all stuff in the head can be pretty hard...

Also you can see the changed values on the LCD.

I'm going to be using it with my own sequencer and synthesis program written in Csound, so I don't *need* the visual feedback 'cause I can control what goes on my computer screen. But I'll probably add the LCD later.

Thanks for the replies guys.
