Gibberish on LCD Solved

My display only displays gibberish. Numbers, symbols or letters only on top row of 2x20 LCD module. Module is from Digikey, Opterx model with HCD44780 driver.

I loaded mios and got a /h in window. loaded sid 1.6 and get gibberish when twisting knob or pushing button.

Tried loading lcd7 app but no change.

How do I debug this?

Check the connections again and again - seems that two data lines are swapped

You were exactly right. I had data lines reversed in a spot. Thanks for the help.
