bootstrap upload probs

just a quick question: i finished my core module and hooked nothing except an lcd up to it.

i burned the pic18f452 with the bootstrap loader, icprog said i did this successfully.

now when i power on the core module the lcd (16*4) lights up but there is absolutely no message on it except for black boxes all over lines 1 and 3.

i tried to upload the firmware via midi, but to no avail.

what should the display say????

i need to know this in order to look for errors.... i bought pre-etched boards so i think my soldering job is ok....

i´m confused.

did you try top upload MIOS, or an app? you must upload MIOS first, then the app.
