Guest kejace Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Hi there.. I'm about to design the interface for my Midibox16E and I have two DIN and one DOUT module.I want to have 16 encoders, 8 buttons for the menu, and 24 other buttons. 2 DINs should do it right? Now I looked at how you wired your 11*16 LEDs for the LEDrings and my question is this:If I only want 8 LEDs in every LEDring, I will only use 3 of the 74HC595s, so can I use the last one for 8 LEDs or do I have to use another DOUT module for that?Hope this question isn't too stupid.. // kristoffer
TK. Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Hi Kristoffer, yes, you need 2 DINX4 modules. Regarding the DOUT: you can use one DOUTX4 and cut the SC, SO and RI track between the first three and the last shift register. On this way you've two chains which can be connected to J7 and J8 seperately. See also http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=concepts;action=display;num=1037272152Best Regards, Thorsten.
