Guest greene Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 black background , bright charactershave done this to some (lcd) projects & a cellphone, all with good result. here is how i mod lcd modules.remove the metal or plastic frame around the screen carefully, so the glass corners are expossed. on the surface of the viewing area there is plastic film, a light polarizing filter. these are usually glued . sostarting with a razor or a fingernail, peel off the filter. !fradgile glass! . if this filter is held to the screen, & rotated 90`the image reverses. that would be it if your screen is square , but most of the time . - --------> Quote
Guest greene Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 polarized plastic is easy&cheap - it can be recycled out of a larger, non funtional lcd . it is used in photography , sheets cost much less than precut circles. it is offered on the net for around us$8 per sq.ft. . a low budget method to use window tinting. many types of tint are polarized, a easy way to test different types is to bring your (filter removed) lcd to a tint shops scrap/trash bucket . look for a light , non "mirrored" piece of tint hold this on the lcd , and when it rotated it will go light/dark background. look for the contrastwhith a dark background in mind . turn polarized plastic for the darkest screen, tint should get glued then cut with razor, and kodak filter should be marked, cut then glued. used clear rubber cement .give it a day to dry ,then put it back together. you will need more(brighter) backlight and it will look turbo cool Quote
