Guest psytron Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 hi all I have started on the monster mbseq first of all tk you champ after reading about the mb seq v2 for the first time i had to change my shirt due to excessive DROOLING.thank you tkA little historyall my prev midiboxes (2xmb64) have been burnt and programmed on an old p2 400. the reason being it has a nice strong com port, and the old soundblaster card seems to be the only gameport that would work to program via midi. all of  my other computers have just had onboard soundcards which are fine midiwise they just dont work when programming via sysex.(all motherboards are Asus.)well the power supply has died on this box  >:(Now i am trying to use my st audio c-port (10 in 10 out 2x2midi). prob descI have soldered all the boards.burnt the bootstrap loader trying to upload mios.and added the opto for using proper midi cablesi have only the core without the din/dout for ease of problem diagnosis.using a led mios sends a msg when starting up (i know frm my broken pc this is the correct msg) midi ox shows nothing data sent frm midiox (pc midi out) was verified (led test) so i looped the midi in and the midi out on the st audio c-port predded a few keys in midiox data was sent but i saw none arrive in the "midi in" window.would i be right in assuming thet the prob may be with the soundcard not recieving midi in. or am i way offthanks in advance Quote
Guest psytron Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 So next i hooked up a ltc module (leds/com/thru port)turn it on midi out flashes.but midi in does not flash even when sending sysex or pressing keys.this i find strange as when i hook up a led to midi out (pc audio card) it flikkers when sending msgs.I have tried swaping polarity of the midi plugs. to no avail.I tried pulling a pic out of a mb64 to see if that works in my seq.when i put it in midi out flashes. nothing on lcd(2x 2x40) but squares. when i put the pic back in the mb64 it doen not work anymore :-[.( i have not switched on the mb64 for a month but this should not matter right?). TK. Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Hi,there is a step by step troubleshooting guide available here:http://www.ucapps.de/howto_debug_midi.htmlDid you already check all the debugging suggestions?Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
Guest psytron Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 yes this is where i got the idea for the led on the midi pins.I bought myself a roland juno 1 and my computer does not recognise midi from this either. so i think it is my soundcard midi in. I bought it second hand so we will see.I believe my mb seq may need a little work as well hehe.core sends out midi after startup (indication from ltc and a led in midi cable)core is loaded with mios (i did this on a seperate core) Quote
Guest psytron Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 RTFM = Refur To F@#*ing ManualAt last i have found the problem it was the soundcard.strangly the out worked fine but to use either the audio in or midi in it had to be enabled. and it was conciderably more complex than ticking the box i can tell you .sorry for wasting everyones timep.s. Seq is a killer appi just have to make a pannel to alleviate this birds nest lol Quote
