We're building two midibox 16's and are thinking of using the bb (Bank Button) firmware. The documentation says:

Bank Button variants

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Uses two bank buttons instead of the four bank switches on RB2, RB3.
Two additional buttons on RB0 and RB1 enables you to send double
note events (great for controlling programs like Cubase, Logic,
Cakewalk via MIDI Remote).
Could someone please explain what double note events are and why we want them?
Hi.
It's just what it says - And you probably don't want them?! ;)
Basicly - earlier (before dedicated control surfaces arrived to the market), sequencers had a midi remote controls which could be assigned to some of it's functions, based on "normal" note on (or CC's or program change) messages. The remote could be normally disabled, and then enabled by sending a specific note on - defaults to C6 on Cubase.
So Double note does just that - Sends first a note to activate the remote, and then note assigned to sequencers some remote function.
Ok, that cleared it up. To summarise, we can just leave the buttons out, or opt to put them in and see if they'll be of any use, right?
(Third option is, of course, to modify the firmware to give us two extra triggers in stead (not gonna happen))..
Thanks for your quick reply!
