Self-powered MIDI Filter

Hi!

I'm building a MIDI filter using this design:

http://www.ucapps.de/midifilter.html

I want the unit to be self-powered via MIDI like the Midisolutions' products:

http://www.midisolutions.com/products.htm

They mention in the FAQ that the optoisolator is removed in the MIDI input of circuit to be able to power the device.

http://www.midisolutions.com/faqs.htm

(Q: Will inserting MIDI Solutions products in my setup cause ground loops?)

I want to remove the optoisolator in the Filter design but I do not know what remaining parts are needed for the circuit to function properly.

Could some electronically skilled person help me with a proper solution?

Regards, MrJingle

Thanks a lot for your quick reply!

I'm definately NOT an experienced electronic expert, but my approach is "learning by doing" so I'll give the hinted solution in the FAQ a shot.

I suppose that the reason the Midisolutions' stuff works is that they don't use PIC's for their units, right?
