no voltage reading with core

Hi,

Could this be an OPEN? ;) There's one jumper (or airwire, if you prefer that word) in SmashTV's layout, about in the middle of the board on the leftside, while looking from above - basicly feeding Vdd connection to the pins you mentioned not having +5v.. Are you sure it's in place?

Sounds like you should go see SmashTV's page about the his core module layout:

http://avi.dezines.com/mbhp/mbhp_coreR3.html

...it's a bit different from the one seen on ucapps.de.

Sorry for using such a confusing description.. it's a, hmm.. a wirelink? (Please folks, what should those REALLY be called?!).. But anyway, in the pics on Smash's site, those are red in colour and/or painted with a white dashed line on top of the (actual) pcb.

Hi,

It's hard to say from this angle, if the wire is there.. there should be one horizontal wirelink, and it's location is about between C3 and Q1.

Maybe a close-up from the solderside would reveal something new?

If the 7805 with that setup (no PIC, no other boards connected) is getting (real) hot, maybe there IS a short somewhere..  :-\

Bye, Moebius
