soudan
ok i put together smash tvs core and i got a 5v reading with MCLR(1) - IC1:Vss(12) but no reading with Vdd(11) - IC1:Vss(12), Vdd(32) - IC1:Vss(31) and IC2(8) - IC2:(5)..could this be a short or just a bad solder? im using the c64 psuThanks!Sean
moebius
Hi,Could this be an OPEN? ;) There's one jumper (or airwire, if you prefer that word) in SmashTV's layout, about in the middle of the board on the leftside, while looking from above - basicly feeding Vdd connection to the pins you mentioned not having +5v.. Are you sure it's in place?Bye, Moebius
soudan
i know what your talking about but i dont see anything like that on the board i have...supposed to be j3 or something like that right?
moebius
Sounds like you should go see SmashTV's page about the his core module layout: http://avi.dezines.com/mbhp/mbhp_coreR3.html ...it's a bit different from the one seen on ucapps.de.Sorry for using such a confusing description.. it's a, hmm.. a wirelink? (Please folks, what should those REALLY be called?!).. But anyway, in the pics on Smash's site, those are red in colour and/or painted with a white dashed line on top of the (actual) pcb.Bye, Moebius
stryd_one
I didn't realise smash was making little alterations/improvements, that's cool 8)Hey smashtv, the link to buy from that page is broken ....Anyway I found the page, just made up my wishlist and its like 700 bucks ;D Get ready for some cashflow in a few weeks man! :D

soudan
i forgot also to mention the 7805 was getting really hot...wonder that has anything to do with it..dont think will really help but here is a pic of my board:
moebius
Hi,It's hard to say from this angle, if the wire is there.. there should be one horizontal wirelink, and it's location is about between C3 and Q1.Maybe a close-up from the solderside would reveal something new?If the 7805 with that setup (no PIC, no other boards connected) is getting (real) hot, maybe there IS a short somewhere.. :-\Bye, Moebius
soudan
that one connection by c3 is there..i took a pic of the solder side: http://dsdigitalmedia.com/images/solderside.jpg..not the best solder job in the world but oh well..lolSean
