k-rite Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 Hello, I think I may have a bad Cap on my SID module, but i'm not for sure. I'm building the SID module kit from Smash TV's shop. I tested the voltage going in and coming out of the bridge rectifier and they are both 15Vdc. At the very first Cap(.33uF) the voltage totally dies or is only like .05Vdc. Does this mean the Cap is bad? I'm totally new to electronics. There is no voltage at all at IC1?Thanks in advance for your help.Tom
Wise Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I don't have a SID module, but from looking on the schematic i asume there is a break in the pcb track. If the voltage out of the receiver is OK, and on the same track closer to C6 is 0V, that indicates a broken track. If the cap is shorten it shouldnt be any voltage out of the bridge../Wise
k-rite Posted May 21, 2005 Author Report Posted May 21, 2005 i asume there is a break in the pcb track.Your right on the money. I connected a jumper between the Cap ground and the bridge rectifer ground, it fixed it. Now I have 12V at IC1!
