Acid303
Hi,i made an MP3-file where you can hear the problem:http://f6.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/EJvzQsty33dgOWbO_7u0Z_kWJjUYPCQs63eO5-MoYMAIcvOLJb4zoE8adv1mcLA_JwrvYdbwyS_taR2L6BHf/SID.mp3First of all, very noisy, you can hear it at the beginning. I guess it could be because of the PSU's. I used 2 PSUs. 1 for core, one for Sid.I also used a mono 6.3mm jack. I recognized that everytime i touch the PCB you can hear more noise. But the main problem besides noise is, that after pressing a key on the keyboard and releasing it, you still hear the sound playing on and on. Even when you switch all "tones" off, i mean no saw, no pulse and so on, you can play the sound on the keyboard although it should be totally quiet. I know that the sid makes some noise, but this is different.OK, thanks in advance...Axel
TK.
Hi Axel, the mp3 is not accessible... however, is this a silent sound in background? Then your MBSID is possibly stuffed with a 6581 - the background noise is a design weakness of this chip. Best Regards, Thorsten.
Acid303
Hmm, shit happens ;DI have no own homepage, but maybe this works:http://de.geocities.com/lz303/SID.mp3It sounds really terrible...it's more than a "silent" noise ;D I also use the Hardsid and there you also have some noise, but really very silent....so it has to be another problem....the PSUs 4 sure and maybe some ground problems....I just finished making a new Core module and i sure have to make cables for all connections. I had some real problems with my connections (just wires on the pins, terrible) but i am willing to learn and it is a lot of fun to build this module. (as i told before this is my first project)I also ordered the parts for building the C64 PSU solution, so i try to keep all "noisemakers" or other things away. Thanx :DAxel
TK.
For the records (I already answered this post in the german forum)It sounds really terrible...it's more than a "silent" noise ;D I also use the Hardsid and there you also have some noise, but really very silent....so it has to be another problem....the intensity of the noise depends on the sound patch you are using, if you are playing exactly the same sound on the HardSID card, you should notice exactly the same background noiseBest Regards, Thorsten.
