Few questions on the PIC Burner

Well, I'm looking to try and erase and reprogram my PIC with the new programmer. I'm thinking of bulding it on veroboard instead of PCB board. I was wondering, about the LPT Cable, is it the normal printer cable? Also, does this programmer uses the printer port instead of the com port?
