digi spi pots from microchip

Ok I will order some chips "digital pots" from microchip, and I want SMD chips- because i am good in soldering - and I see only positve things by SMD.

Thats Right? :

SOIC = SMD

PDIP = BIG like optocopler

What meens by the SMDs: I/SN and E/SN

What meens by the PDIPS: I/P and E/P (my pic18 is a I/P  :) but whats this meen)

for example: MCP41100-I/SN 

And what type I need for the Mios project SOIC, I/SN (PDIP I/P) - or better what type could work?

And want anybody digi pots in austria or germany too? because this:

1-25  1.21eurons

26-99 0.86 eurons this are 35 cents per piece!!!  :o

And anybody has some experience with the pots?
