Sega Master System Midi interface?

would it be possible, do you think, to create a cartridge that goes into a sega master system but gives instructions to the audio processor that produces output, similar to the wayfar midines?  or to harvest the chip from inside the SMS and build a midibox about it?

I would genuinely love to be able to do this.... !!!

BUt i just don't know anything about programming microcontrollers...
