incorporating a touchpad?

Any thoughts on incorporating a touchpad into a midibox?  I yanked one out of an old qwerty keyboard before i even thought about how to make it work within the project.  

I've seen some drivers out there for using it as a stand-alone device, but nothing quite so cool as having it embedded within a comprehensive control interface.

With the progress that's been made so far, it just seems anything's possible.
