dcreatorx Posted June 11, 2006 Author Report Posted June 11, 2006 Since this is my first electronics project, I will count this as a practice. I will order 2 more cores and this time I will do it right and clean. This was a dirty project from the beginning. :-\The first core seems to work fine but is not because it just does not work while uploading. The second core is not giving the needed voltage, and some parts are dancing in the holes because of a bad solder.I will continue posting when the new cores arrive at my home. Thanks for the info, and talk to you soon. Quote
TK. Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 An important hint: next time use ribbon cable to connect your modules, it's much easier to solder and less error prone (the cable doesn't break so easy). Some time ago a friend brought me his MIDIbox SID because it didn't work stable - the first thing what I did was to desolder all these thick cables, and I replaced them by the flexible ribbon cables. Thereafter it worked perfectly without failure.See also the addendum of the soldering guide: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_core.htmlBest Regards, Thorsten. Quote
dcreatorx Posted June 11, 2006 Author Report Posted June 11, 2006 Yes, I will use IDC connectors too. This time the soldering will be perfect. Thanks TK, I will talk to you soon. Quote
dcreatorx Posted July 11, 2006 Author Report Posted July 11, 2006 Hi again ! I've got the new pair of RC4 core module pcb's : Great for SmashTV . . this design seems to be more versatile and bug free than the latests. I've got a small prob. Everything is well mounted as I did with taken all the care required for the situation, but now I'm getting 2.5V instead of the normal 5V required when realizing a Vdd measure from the MIDI troubleshooting. Can you tell me why it happens ? Maybe I'm missing new instructions for these new cores ? Thanks. ::)A think to say : If I connect ground from the PSU to the core power SIL header, it gives me the 5.20V. I think is after the entrance of the power that gets lowered. But . . . I checked and everything is ok, I think it's my best solder since I started. Thanks again . . Quote
