Ian_Hurlock
Ok I've started work on the SID + MB64.For testing I will not require too much out board gearie Pot Matrix and leds and most buttons.Only the first button matrix for control of the 64 core.Could you answer some questions please.1 AN 0 - 7 are grounded if no pots are used ?2 Junction "2" on the core diagram shows only the connections to power ie 5v and ground.Where do the connections for the SID attach to the core. That is, SC,MU,RC,SOCould you advise pin numbers as apposed to letters as there are multiples of these connections on the core diagram.3 The led extension is left off all together .OK ?4 What to do with the " OUT " left over on pin 19 of the core PIC. ?5 What to do with MUX A, B, C when no pot matrix is connected.I intend to just test the thing via the core midi in with the Logic environment you made to establish which hardware controls I will end up with in the 19" rack version.I trust this is the best way to attack this thing ?Sorry there are so many Q'sBTW. I'm up to 13 x 6581's now. I think I may have a sickness for them !!! Love the picture !RegardsIan
TK.
Hi Ian,1 AN 0 - 7 are grounded if no pots are used ?yes, this is necessary!2 Junction "2" on the core diagram shows only the connections to power ie 5v and ground.this junction can be used if another core module should be supplied. If you plan to build two core modes, one for the MB64 firmware, the other for the SID firmware, you can make a direct connection from CORE1:J2 to CORE2:J2, and don't need to mount a second 7805, caps, rectifier, on the second board.Where do the connections for the SID attach to the core. That is, SC,MU,RC,SOCould you advise pin numbers as apposed to letters as there are multiples of these connections on the core diagram. It is just a 1:1 connection of CORE:J10 to SID:J2 (not all pins are used)3 The led extension is left off all together .OK ?yes, since it has no inputs, but only outputs, it's not critical to let the appr. pins open4 What to do with the " OUT " left over on pin 19 of the core PIC. ?outputs should be "open" (don't connect it with ground or a pull-up resistor)5 What to do with MUX A, B, C when no pot matrix is connected.Outputs -> openI intend to just test the thing via the core midi in with the Logic environment you made to establish which hardware controls I will end up with in the 19" rack version.I trust this is the best way to attack this thing ?Yes - there will be a layered (with less pots) and a full control (with a lot of pots), so the stuff will fit on the 19" panel anyhow :)BTW. I'm up to 13 x 6581's now. I think I may have a sickness for them !!! Love the picture !Coool! In Germany it is currently very difficult to purchase a SID at Ebay ;-)Best Regards, Thorsten.RegardsIan
