Hey midiboxers,

I am reallly hoping that one of you might be able to ID this part. It's labelled 'H4K' and appears to be 5 pins, maybe 6 with one cut, in an SMD package.

This is from an SRAM based memory expansion for a synth if that helps at all....

Thanks in advance!!

Do you know what part of the circuit it's in?  If in the main power supply lines, it could be some sort of filter or regulator.  If it's in the control lines, it might be a clock generator or transistor.  I'm grasping at straws here though, it could be anything.  I've seen a LM317 used as a high wattage resistor.

That's exactly what I said fluke :) I feel much more confident thinking that now. I do have a pic of both sides of the board, but unfortunately the components obscure the tracks, so it's very hard to tell what is wired to where :( I think this guy might have to desolder his existing board in order to find out....

PS Hey I dig the new signature LOL

Yeh it's a 3v SRAM IC and I was thinking that maybe the synth runs a higher voltage internally... General concensus seems to be that it's that SOT23-5 VREG, thanks guys!
