SID emulation in FPGA

I may be well behind the times, and this may be old hat, but this guy:

is doing a SID emulation in FPGA. I coudl see the possibility for an entire SID module on a chip here.

The MyHDL stuff is quite inspiring too.

sounds like it would be a closer emulation than all current software-only synths.... what do you guys think?  I've always wondered how a SID would sound if it used the MS-20 filter...
