Editing pathes from my computer

Hi!

I've just finished a control A midibox sid. I'll probably post pics later, though it's not anything special really.

Now I want to make som patches.  I figure that it's easier to do using a computer.  I've tried the JsynthLib, but I don't know if there's a better way.  The major problem I had, was that I could nok find a way to edit the pathes while hearing the changes.  I had to make a complete patch, then transfer it, and only then could I hear it.  Is there a better way to edit pathes?  I guess I could use the control surface, but I thought it would be more suited for minor changes.
