Octopart

Hi all I'm new to the forums but have been drooling over the MIDIboxSID for quite a while (I plan on building one within the next couple of months) ;)

I just thought I'd pass on a link to Octopart. They just started up but have a really solid parts search with links, price comparisons, images, and part numbers to Digikey, Allied, Mouser, and Newark listed.

I have no connection to Octopart other than the fact that I've used them and can attest to the reliability of the search to come up with really accurate and useful hits. Hopefully you all find them as useful. :)

I didn't have much luck with it :( I found my part by visiting the individual sites though... Obviously the DB is out of date. If it were generated in realtime, and did the salvage/excess/2nd hand/distributor sites as well, this would rock.

I tried it too and was disappointed, it didn't find any hard to find parts that I was looking for. If you're looking for a 10k resitor it might help... but you don't need to price compare that, order it along with the other stuff and you'll save on shipping.

It's a FANTASTIC idea though! We need that and a more reliable datasheet search as well (I always have problems if I'm harvesting parts). Eventually it might be a very useful tool.
