  1. Oh man my emoticons look desperate now.
  2. Hey, I realize this has little to do with music or Midibox, but I don't know of any other technical and friendly forums. Does anyone have any recommendations for starting out in Linux Dev? I have a few years of experience with objective-C for iPhone/iPad. But now I want to make a daemon for a embedded Linux system and I have no idea where to start. How do I start the actual project? Are there templates for daemon-style binaries? I want to incorporate GPIOs and I2C, but I'm not 100% sure how to do this easily. I think that's enough to get started, I shouldn't describe too much before seeing if anyone has any suggestions :w00t: :logik:
  3. Whoa, this is nice to see! I'm a amateur iPhone/iPad developer and I'm really excited to see some really professional music-related work going up. My next project plan was to build some kind of OSC music player. But I still can't even figure out how to get an OSC running in it at all. Ah well, one day. Everyone of my my apps has had something that was really difficult to get over. I'm definitely loading this on my iPad when I get home. Do you plan on working on the graphics a bit more?
  4. Hey, I'm building my Sammich and everything has been checking out. I voltage tested everything, especially the SID hook ups. MIOS loads and I uploaded the Sammich Application. However, when I plug in the Sids and start up the sammich the LCD does not come on! I'm baffled as to why this could be. The jumber is pinned to the 6582 (5V) and the voltage and ground are checked with a multi-meter. I'm worried there is something wrong with the SIDs. EDIT: Solved, I needed a better PSU
  5. Whoa, that's amazing. So if I hadn't posted here you never would have heard. Awesome. Good stuff! I look forward to starting my project.
  6. From this site: http://web.media.mit.edu/~nvawter/projects/1bit/index.html It's just the Atmega with the firmware on it. I wish it was a board and everything but it's not. But so far that means I would only be out more money :-\ I wish it was a PIC, I could have burned a PIC.
  7. Has anyone else ordered a 1-Bit groove box from Noah Vawter? I sent him money 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten a response at all since. He had cleared it before, so now I feel like he's ripped me off. Anyone else have this experience?
  8. Okay, he mentions the 6852 and made a Wilba SID. Really nice stuff on his site. Though it now feels weird that I'm posting about someone who is already here!
  9. Hackaday has posted a link for a blog by a "commodore 64 fanatic". Interesting site to say the least, not sure if anyone else here knew about it (or is that particular person!).
  10. Oh well, I suppose it's a thing about the PIC burning software and not anything specific with PICs.
  11. Okay, for some reason this is what happened. CAProvider wasn't working. What I was seeing is perhaps Apple's halfhearted MIDI java implementation. It is apparently truly half-hearted considering it was eating half of the upload message, even when it was a new burned PIC which was sending lots and lots of requests. So, anyway, I installed plumstone (rebooted) and not even that worked, so I installed MMJ and now suddenly I have two versions of my UNO appearing in MIOS studio. I hooked up the new one in the routing and it uploaded. :-\
  12. Hrmm, even though I got errors they appear to work okay, at least one does. But what did it mean by fuses?
  13. Whew, Apparently I was doing something wrong with my GM5 last night or something. I switched back to my UNO this morning and am receiving constant upload requests. BUT THEY'RE STILL BELOW 8 BYTES! Starting upload of mios_v1_9g_pic18f4685.hex Hex file contains code in MIOS range, forcing reboot for upload via 1st level bootloader! The reboot request will lead to an error acknowledge, please ignore! Waiting for upload request... 14. Thanks, that's a great place to get started. Maybe there's something similar with AU (because I'm developing on Mac)?
  15. I've looked around the forums, and the only post I read was there are not fuses in PICs. So what the hell does pkp mean?
  16. I'm trying to burn some PICs with the MBHP PIC Burner, and pkp for linux. For some reason I get a "fuses" error. Can anyone tell me how to fix the fuses? I'm not sure why there's errors with the fuses >> V Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x300000, device = 0x600, buffer = 0x36ff) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x300002, device = 0x130f, buffer = 0xf3ef) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x300004, device = 0x8000, buffer = 0xf9ff) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x300006, device = 0xb1, buffer = 0xffbb) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x300008, device = 0xc03f, buffer = 0xffff) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x30000a, device = 0xe03f, buffer = 0xffff) Warning: [Config fuses] (addr = 0x30000c, device = 0x403f, buffer = 0xffff) fuses error
  17. Can you burn everything using the PIC burner? Or do you have to load the MIOS and the MIOS app over MIDI?
  18. Well not much has changed. I opened the case and unplugged everything from the unit. The first thing that happened were a few messages sent from the box when the banksticks had been removed. But that seemed normal enough and it was still sending "less than 8 bytes". One thing I noticed was that the two following codes appeared when I didn't have the sid or the LCD plugged in. I never got them before. Does anyone know what they mean? Should I just go ahead and replace the PIC? 00000452089592 ms | [F8] Timing clock 00000452098852 ms | [FF] System Reset Entire Log: 00000451834989 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 01 00 00 00 00 00 19. I have been considering developing a software synth for Mac. Since a lot of people here are audio guys, and since I know Thorsten even made a SID prog. Can someone offer some guidance or reading related to making a soft synth? As well as the how the SID works mathematically? I'd be really interested.
  20. I suppose it doesn't receive it, or all of it considering it's below 8 bytes, and MIOS Studio appears to think that's strange! I'm using the CAProvider.jar library for Max OS X 10.6.whatever. I wonder if I might try another provider of JAVA-Midi it could work? Could it be some strange electrical problem when I boot up the MIDIBox? Maybe I have two problems 1- On Boot up - Upload request is garbled somehow 2- While booted up - MBSid does not receive reboot request. But this is somewhat strange since it clearly receives notes and plays audio.
  21. Whoa, silence. Where is everybody? Is everyone on a beach somewhere?
  22. Is there any documentation on these types of uploading issues? I've read the guides and am stumped as to why midi is working for everything but this one feature. I've even tried to just upload manually but it doesn't work at all, the info is sent but the MIDIBOX never reacts.
  23. It's been a long time since I built my Midibox SID, and a while since I've been on these boards! So hello to everyone again. So, I want to update to MIOS 1.9g and get RC35 going on my MBSIDv2. I currently am running RC25 on MIOS1.9f I haven't tackled rebuilding my application HEX, and I'm hung up on uploading MIOS! I have my UNO working perfectly considering I see the upload message when the SID starts, and I can send keyboard commands from MIOS Studio and it plays the notes. However, I can't successfully upload the PIC18f4685.hex file. The force reboot does not work, and if I just reboot my SID while it's waiting for an upload request it outputs the following Starting upload of mios_v1_9g_pic18f4685.hex Hex file contains code in MIOS range, forcing reboot for upload via 1st level bootloader! The reboot request will lead to an error acknowledge, please ignore! Waiting for upload request... Received SysEx message of less than 8 bytes Does anyone have any recommendations to get this uploaded? 24. FYI I was correct, I ordered more amps and they are working fine. Though for some reason channels 3 and 4 appear to be a lot less loud than 1 and 2.
