Conflict between Step A schematics, and DIN page

The DIN page, and Avishowtech's info, says if you are using an encoder, to use J6 on the DIn board, but the schematics on the Step A page say to use J9, for both options, encoder OR button.

which one is correct?

I searched for ages because I was trying to figure out where you read that you should connect encoders to J9 on the DIN.... Especially as there isn't one... So I assume you're talking about which CORE module jumper to connect the DIN module to? If so, you musta missed this part:

MIDIbox16E only
  ;)

So it's still J9. If all else fails, the schematic is the best reference, and you can always check the source code to be sure.

argh!

There is literally soo much information i cant' contain it all in one brain..

Oddly, i connected it to J9 on the core, but it didn't work.. i got voltage in the right pins.. but.. my buttons.. my encoder.. nada

I even wired it correctly using the revised key (these are R3 DIN boards, so the legend on the board is wrong)..

but still, nothing...

i can't figure out why i could not enter the menu.. my menu button was wired correctly, and was a working button :(
