www.schaeffer-ag.de is the company that made the original frontpanel at least fot the midibox fm i think. they're in germany and they have downloadable software to create your frontpanel

It's a commercial product (25 $), but the source is GPL'ed.

Yes, I'm giving it a try. These are my first steps in CAD, but I like to learn new things :-) From what I know, community (GPL) version is fully functional. except few things:

Note that the community edition does not contain the scripting module or polyline support
