TK. Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Hi,this is a low-performance T6963C based display - for what kind of MIDIbox are you planning to use it?Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
cimo Posted June 3, 2007 Author Report Posted June 3, 2007 hiinfact i ve already contacted the seller cause it says it has a kso108 driver while in the manufacter s web site it s stated differently.. so i will wait for an answer. But what does it mean low-performance? i plan to have two of them in a MBLC, i guess i need 2 CORES to drive 2 LCDs but i plan to skip the ledrings stuff and use the GLCD to monitor the encoders status/midi feedback. It would be 8 encoders per GLCD, but really i need to dig into the LC code and LCD behaviour cause i never used them before, anyway help is welcome.EDIT: the box will feature 8 analog pot28 backlit buttons17 encoders4 buttons2 GLCD 2 cores with MBLC AND midi inputin case the driver is NOT a KS0180 will that work anyway or is it not reccomended?Simone Quote
TK. Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 A T6963C is too slow for a MBLC - it could work, but due to the long access times there is a high chance for MIDI IN buffer overruns which cannot be avoided.See also the LCD benchmark: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=2169.0I'm using a KS0108/KS0107 based GLCD, and it still works great! :)Best Regards, Thorsten. cimo Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 ok i got it! thanksstill i haven t found the answer to this anywhere:how much data can i see on the lcd? i mean how many pots can i see on it all together?and can i assign names/values to the pots? will LC retrieve names/values from the host? andwhat does it mean 6/9/12 o clock about the viewing angle for the lcd? andlcds with the same pixels amount (128X64) may have different size, does that mean that a pot "icon" will be seen as an elipse on some models?regardssimone Quote
cimo Posted June 20, 2007 Author Report Posted June 20, 2007 hey there i am a bit ashamed :-[ but i need to give it a try again to find an answer to my questions..the main one right now is this one:i see there are mainly 2 sizes for 128X64 lcds = View area: 70.7 mm X 38.8 mm or 62 mm X 44.6 mm.Does that mean that pots images won t be shown correctly in one model? in this case which one is to be preferred?i ve found the answer to the o clock view:3, 9, 6 or 12 o'clock (right, left, bottom or top view) Quote
TK. Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I cannot give you an adquate answerThe X/Y ratio of the first one is 1.4, of the second one 1.8Unfortunately I don't know the exact ratio of my own GLCD, but I would say: yes, on both displays you won't see a 100% perfect circle (like on my own display), but I guess that the impact isn't so high on the second display, as it is close to 2.0 ratio (128/64)Best Regards, Thorsten.
