polar69
Alright guys, easy questions....I want to build a midi box controller. At the moment I would like to keep it simple so maybe a few pots is all I need. I want to control vsti's in my DAW y'see.I have had a look around and can see I need a core module, I found smashtv's site but I am in the UK, is there a uk equivelent site ?Where is a good place to start, I'm hoping that the o level electronics I took years ago may come in handyI'm looking for answers guys
SLP
I found smashtv's site but I am in the UK, is there a uk equivelent site ?Smash and MidiMike ship worldwide. You needA Core,AINs for pots, faders, touchpads, Ribbon-controllers,joysticks. Basically for all the analog stuffDINs for Buttons and encoders. All the digital stuffDOUTs for LEDs and Relaysyou won't really need ( AOUTs, for controlling (and/or midifying) analog gear ) It's all there.search µcApps, the wiki and use the search-function of the forum. it's not hard to find the necessary information. SLP
you guys must be sick of the same questions all the timeYeah, I have to throw up twice a day. ;D ;DI understand that It takes some time until you've understood how MBHP works, but after that everything's really easy.Read,read,read. And when you think you've read enough, then go and read it again.
polar69
Okay read everything lots of times :PThing is the more I read the more I want to make a midibox sid !Decided my prototype will be a core+ain_din for simplicity sake and I'll take it from thereCame across an old ibm as400 keyboard today that will be my donar case, all I need to do now is figure out whether to buy from Mike or Smash ! Cooool
SLP
core+ain_din AIN won't work with a MB_SID.I think there's a way to connect up to 6 different analog controllers (pots, sliders)directly to the Core so that they can be used as an additional LFO waveform. This was possible in V1.xxx . I Don't know if it'sll work in V2 ,too.
polar69
No sorry my fault.I was day dreaming about the SIDI'm going to build a midibox64 controllerMind you looking at this keyboard that I intend to use as a box I think it may be too thin !After the mb64 I intend to continue to a mbsid , bit more reading to do first ! Mike's boards work, but Smash's boards are much nicer in my opinion.
polar69
Still at the planning stage, what I really need is some CAD software, now in my last job I used to administrate IBM's CATIA but I think that will be a bit OTT, can anyone suggest anything else in a free "lite" version ?( search engine for this site turned up nothing, but I do remember a 303 type design that mentioned some )
Wilba
Zoner Draw 5 isn't free, but is pretty cheap and has a free trial, quite good for panel layouts and planning, it's more of a vector based drawing package but with so much support for typing in dimensions, it's a good CAD alternative.
