Hey everyone,

So I've been reading up on MIDIbox SID for the past few days and while I feel that I understand the basics, I still have a few questions.

1. I have ordered that parts needed to build the CORE and SID modules and will be constructing these once I receive the parts.  However, these modules don't seem to include MIDI in and out capabilities.  I would like to be able to control the device with a MIDI controller and output to a basic quarter-inch or eighth-inch cable.  Do you know of any good resources that explain how to add these components on to the basic CORE and SID modules?

2. I haven't been able to find a clear explanation of how to connect up a power source.  Can anyone point me to one of those?

I have a computer science degree and some slight experience in circuitbending, but aside from that, I'm very new to this topic.  Thanks for your help!

Hi,

MIDI In and Out port are part of the core module (see MBHP_CORE page). Once you are ready to upload the firmware, MIDI In and Out have to be connected to your computer. This is basically described at the bootloader page. Later you can connect a keyboard, a MIDI controller, a hardware sequencer, your PC (for software sequencing) etc.. to MIDI In for receiving Notes/CCs/Aftertouch/Pitchbender/SysEx.

Did you ever control an external synthesizer with your MIDI gear? MIDIbox SID is just the same... :)

PSU: some details can be found here: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_hw.html

Please note that most features explained in the manual are only supported by the new MIDIbox SID V2 firmware, which requires a PIC18F4685

Best Regards, Thorsten.

the SID-Module has got two pins for audio out and two for audio in.

Take these and connect it to a connector of your choice.

Quarter-inch, eighth-inch (uncommon) or even RCA (uncommon)
