Mister Bill Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 This is a kind of long-winded idea, but here goes.I've had a couple of MIDI keyboard controllers that, while I liked the action of the keys and such, I really had no options for making any sort of presets to do various splitting and layering of the keys and selecting programs, and I'm wanting to see how hard it would be to build a box that would do that. What I'd like to be able to do would be plug a MIDI keyboard transmitting it's entire range on a single channel into the box. The box itself would be externally programmable through some means or another to have a bank of like 128 presets or so. For each preset, a range of keys is assigned to each channel (or no keys if the channel isn't used), each channel transmits a saved program and bank change when the preset is selected. Also, various CCs and other things (velocity, mod wheel, aftertouch, expression pedal, sustain, etc.) could be turned on and off for each channel. The presets on the box itself could be changed by an external controller. Now, I'm aware this would require a good bit of software development, and honestly I am not a programmer by any means. Has anybody done anything like this before, or would anybody be interested in designing this? Only thing I've seen like it is the MIDI routing modules on the Nord Modular G2. I'm getting a Kurzweil K2661 soon, which actually has a similar function, but it can only be used on the internal or external keyboard, but not both. Quote
ilmenator Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Look at the programming examples at the bottom of this page: http://www.ucapps.de/mios_c.htmlMost of what you need is already there. Once you understood how these examples work, you can do your own modifications. Go ahead! :)Best regards, ilmenator Quote
