Hello ! sorry for my english beforehands, salut to all russian midiboxers

Is there way to connect an ISA or PCI soundcard with built-in General Midi sounds

direct to MIDI keyboard ?

It could be good start-up idea, because SID or FM midiboxes quiet difficult for beginners.

Maybe there exist another simplest MIDIbox projects ?

Hi Echolot :)

It would be possible to connect ISA soundcards (this has been mentioned many years ago), but the connection would not really be so much more simple than a SID.

If you want a simple project to get started, you might consider making something like MIDIMon or ClockBox :)

There are projects around the web to make Waveblaster daughtercards into stand alone MIDI sound modules.  You might be interested in doing one of them.  Or once you're more familiar with MIOS and the MBHP, making a MIDIbox version.

Or stick the words "waveblaster" or "isa" into the search box here to see previous research on this topic.

There's certainly a lot more to interfacing a PIC to an ISA card than connecting it to 12V.  There are examples where people have used ISA ethernet cards with PICs which a bit of Googling should turn up.
