brother303 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Hi everybody, yesterday I accidentaly put +/-9V on my opl-pcb for about 5 seconds until I noticed my error. The opl-chip got pretty hot,the yac512 stayed cool.My question is: Is there any chance for the opl3 to survive that accident or should I desolder it and put in a spare? And what about the yac512? May they be damaged too? As I mentioned above, these chips stayed cool. ???Any suggestions?THXBrother303

stryd_one Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Ahhh.... no point in speculating now... Just try it, and if there's a problem we can attack it.
QBAS Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Yes, I has problem with not connected ground between +5V ground and +/-12V ground. My oscillator was very hot, and others part also, but I only changed this oscillator, created connection between grounds and every was good, so I think try finish , upload software and have fun from this super sound.
