Front Panel from Schaeffer: sugesstions on LED holes

About to have my first panel cut.  :D

I've designed a control surface in Frontpanel Express and about to send in the order, however I need a suggestion on the holes for the LEDs.

The LEDs I'm going to use are Cylindrical shaped with flat tops. the Datasheet shows the diameter being 5mm with +/- 0.25mm for size tolerance. should I specify the LED holes being right on 5mm or 5.25mm to allow for the tolerance?

Thanks.

I suggest you measure the LEDs yourself with calipers.

In the past, I have specified exactly 3mm holes for LEDs and 3mm LEDs fit in them.

However, you could specify 5.25mm to be on the safe side... even if the LEDs were exactly 5mm then any gap would only be 1/8th of a millimeter.

I would take the tolerance into account, specially because you use flat heads.

With round heads you still could press the LEDs into the "too small" wholes, which could be difficult with flat heads.

2nd suggestin: As Wilba stated... measure what the tolerance effectively is, it mostly is the same within a production batch.
