07. Aluminium printout

This is the real deal. My design printed on a sheet of aluminium 300x200mm for about $28. The texture is great, the finish is matt and looks quite professional in my opinion.

My only reservation towards this approach is that colors from screen and the finished product differs quite alot.

Now the next thing is to drill the holes for the components.

Thanks Peter!

I used a company called Japan Photo in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Being new to the whole DIY world I have no clue how one would go about printing out a front panel at a reasonable price.

In fact, I wouldn't even know which company to call.

But when I came across this (I guess quite new) method of developing photos directly onto aluminium I went for it.

The fun thing being that, since this service is targeted towards people developing their photos, the glossy version is more expensive and the matt version (more suitable for front panels) costs less!

Thanks for the feedback - it turned out really nicely!

Quite often CNC service providers are employed to drill, engrave and paint aluminum panels, but they are far more expensive (would estimate 60€ at Frontpanel Express for your panel, and they would not be able to produce such nice graphics).

Many greets!

Peter
