    HELP!

I also had trouble with my MIOS Studio download and Java Run Time go to the MIDIbox Tools & MIOS Studio section there may be some common ground I think one of them is a sticky MIOS Studio beta7_4 http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=7238.0 Java Runtime + MIOS Studio http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=8010.0

    hello

welcome the ScreenKeys look great perfect for vision switchers and routers situations where the mode of operation can change substantialy and the key's operations can change cost and difficulty to program the screens may make it a little over the top for a simple midi controller but once past those hurdles, I can see that a seq and a controller, all in one could make good use of a large matrix of these things individual cost ? nVision have some good gear and one of your enineers came out to Australia and gave some training sessions on digital signals I have a couple of versions of ... " The Book "
  3. It's OK Evan people love to hate Protools yes I use word and I use Protools and I also like to take a swipe at Digidesign whenever possible ... Alsihad and MOA (mother of alsihad) ... a derogatory term invented by Fletcher and his mate over at PSW ... I think It is our job as Digidesign buyers and users to keep them honest and on track. As said above and start experimenting. perhaps we can find the right combination and help Digidesign haven't made a decent controller yet and their price is ridiculous so you can't blame Roger for taking a swipe.
  4. !!!! :o sorry I missed that fact ... not like me to miss things like that perhaps you have time for a little processor/application stuff
  5. Wilba !! cool you are in Melbourne 8) me too perhaps you can write an app for me ?
  6. my beta is a little different to what I see in the Help File ... with the rescan on a second page. I haven't got it in front of me right now so this is from memory. The Midi Device Routing Page has something else in the bottom left hand corner. I don't remember how (right click perhaps) but there is a second page. The rescan does nothing ... no change ... zip
  7. ahh ::) so I didn't see all the commands and test all the bits it was late I'll check and get back to you and Thanks Adam ... and thanks to Wilba
  8. yep I noticed that and that's why I'll order the LCD kit as soon as the Core Kits arrive safely and yep I've sus'd the port connections. I launch it a couple of times as I was checking the compatability of my USB midi port. I also need the USB Midi connected before launching MIOS Studio. and if the USB disconnects I have to re-launch MIOS Studio. even so It is all so very, very COOL ... who wrote it ? ... job well done.
  9. I think it's great this and the SmashTV Core Card with the Midi Ports is what prompted me to finally order and get started. ... and I have been whatching all this from the very earliest days way back when, I think there was an old, old site. Some may think that loading things into the PIC is easy ... BUT only if you already know you have a end to end working system. I have just spent the best part of a week getting The SUN Java runtime and a NON corrupted MIOS Studio. I also had a Faulty USB Midi port ... straight out of the box. Unless you have other working parts to check things against and know you have a faulty unit, it can all be a nigtmare for the first time DIY'er as you just don't know what you are supposed to see or which part is going wrong. It's all good. Anything that can help people to get to a complete and working first project is a good thing.
  10. didn't need to ... once I got complete and valid files, it all just worked as it should. seems I have trouble with both the SUN site and the midibox.org for some reason. I have now worked out a way that I can get the midibox.org stuff ... MIOS and PDFs etc even the PDFs for LCD wiring were incomplete and corrupt. Using the download manager has solved the resuming issues that were the problem. I can't get the SUN stuff at home and in the future I will have to use the work system. So all is good with the MIOS Studio and I spent some time last night routing and checking the operations on most of the windows have confirmed comunications through my MT4 midi port. ... and spent some time with the help. I know nothing about programming but the application looks and feels fine. In fact it great and I'm impressed. Years ago, I said that you guys were doing a great job. When I set up Group DIY I had hoped I could get things heading in this direction. ... but it didn't happen that way. I have not yet checked out Serge's Sysex stuff but now that I have my downloads worked out I'm sure it will work. All I have to do now is wait for my Core Card Kits to arrive from SmashTV. When they do arrive successfully I'll order an LCD kit and a DIN kit and a DOUT kit. My needs are very simple compared to some of your massive projects but I'm sure I'll be back for some more advice. THANKS AGAIN ;D ;D ;D
  11. no luck yet opening MIOS 7_4 beta.jar in wordpad is just a jumble there is a structure but I can't read it the files size might be the key I only have 221KB and 224KB I do have Java 2 Platform s and Executable Jar File for me in programs I have C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\javaw.exe check the 1.5.0_9 ... that could just mean I downloaded it more recently. I'm thinking my JAR file is not right or got changed on the way in. I'll try again tomorrow from my work place with a better OS and net access. I'll be back thanks [EDIT] I have just downloaded a replacement for MIOS 7_4 beta.jar using a different download method and now I have MIOSStudio_beta7_4.jar @ 1576KB in size I feel more confident this time
  12. please also refer to MIOS Studio beta7_4 http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=7238.0 currently it is a Sticky and rather than clog it up with my newbie problem I think it is better to bring it here Just to ReCap I think I have successfully downloaded the JRE runtine offline setup file downloaded the MIOS 7_4 beta.jar (.zip) run the set file JRE changed the MIOS 7_4 beta.jar.zip to MIOS 7_4 beta.jar double click MIOS 7_4 beta.jar ??? nothing but the windows bump sound I have searched and read ... and read and searched I am stuck
  13. I tried removing the dot zip after it had landed but still no luck I have launched the JRE installer and as far as I know it completed successfully. ... the dot JAR file doesn't launch. I don't know what I'm supposed to see or what to do next. [EDIT] this is all fixed now see http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=8010.15
  14. :-[ I now seem to be having trouble with the MIOS Studio download and unzip I have the file from http://www.midibox.org/mios_studio/MIOSStudio_beta7_4.jar which lands as MIOSStudio_beta7_4.jar.zip but WinZip doesn't want to work with it and gives an error " Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive If you downloaded the file, try downloading the file again " I've done this a few times with the same result ??
